Oliver Douglas was the lead male character in the popular television series Green Acres
which ran in the mid 1960’s for six seasons. Mr. Douglas played a
sharp common sense type who was surrounded quite literally by a village
of idiots. He felt like he was crazy, though, since
he was surrounded by so many like minded individuals. The real crazy’s
of course were the lame brained out of touch fools running the town.
This of course led to many laughs and endless continuous frustration on
his part.
I feel like Oliver Douglas everyday. I wonder if maybe I’m the
crazy one since I’m surrounded by a country full of like minded idiots,
believing Barack Obama’s every word, following his every fly swat, and
supporting his reckless policies.
Like Oliver, I’m continually frustrated because from my perspective
the truth is so easy to find, the sense so common, the facts are not
confused with feelings, and the outcome is so crystal clear.
I have Green Acres Syndrome.
